Job Description

The role of the Housekeeping Attendant includes ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of assigned areas. Specific tasks may involve:

• Cleaning and sanitizing workspaces, public areas, and equipment.

• Managing cleaning supplies and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Room and Area Cleaning:
   • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and workspaces.
   • Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
   • Vacuum carpets, mop floors, and polish surfaces as required.
   • Replenish toiletries, towels, linens, and other room amenities.
2. Laundry Services:
   • Collect, sort, and transport laundry to the designated area.
   • Wash, dry, fold, and restock linens and uniforms.
3. Maintenance Reporting:
   • Identify and report any maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures or equipment, to the supervisor.
   • Monitor cleaning supplies and request replenishments as needed.
4. Compliance with Standards:
   • Follow health and safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
   • Adhere to organizational cleanliness standards and guidelines.
5. Customer Interaction:
   • Respond to guest requests promptly and professionally.
   • Provide a friendly and courteous experience for guests, ensuring their needs are met.
6. Waste Management:
   • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
   • Follow recycling protocols as per Canadian regulations.
7. Additional Duties:
   • Assist with setting up meeting rooms or event spaces as required.
   • Perform deep-cleaning tasks periodically, such as carpet shampooing or window washing.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial roles is an asset but not mandatory. On-the-job training is often provided.
• Skills:
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and lifting.
  • Basic communication skills in English (bilingual skills in French may be beneficial in some provinces like Quebec).
