Your core daily responsibilities include:
Trailer Shuttling: You will move both empty and loaded flatbed and van trailers between the plant and the yard using trucks equipped with hydraulic and lifting fifth wheels. The hydraulic fifth wheel system is specifically designed to make coupling and decoupling faster and physically less demanding than manual fifth wheel operation — a meaningful advantage in a shift where you may be moving trailers repeatedly throughout your hours.
Plant Backing: You will back trailers into the plant for loading and unloading. This requires genuine precision. Plant environments with active dock doors, other equipment, and pedestrian traffic demand a driver who can place a trailer cleanly and confidently, not someone still developing their backing fundamentals.
Tarping Assistance: You will assist in the tarping and securement process for loaded flatbed trailers before they are pulled for delivery.
